PASSAGES

Passing of winter

Into the spring

Where I loved to sit

Content with thee

The love of thy being

Thy life’s foundation

Where I loved to sit

Fragrant with roses

Pungent lilies

Dancing in love

With thee

As the birds

Joyfully sang

Lovely with glee

In dawn’s light

And throughout

Shimmering rays of light

Warmth and joy

Arrive with thee

Stay with thee

Dancing in the love

With thee

The peace

That overtakes

Thy being

Lifting away

The cares

The aches

The pains

The worries

The frustrations

The angsts

That is life’s lot

Those are fleeting moments

That eventually ceases to be

For the winters of thy being

Shall pass always

Into spring’s eternal gaiety

Where thy being

Loves to sit

Content with thee

The love of thy being

Of thy life

And there shall be

None other

Because

It is better to sit with thee

And watch the winters

Pass into spring with thee

Whilst resting in

Peace and love

With thee

YOU TAUGHT ME

You taught me

How to find the light

How to find the love

How to laugh

How to sing in

Mind, body and spirit

How to dance within the symphonies of nature

How to rest beside a crackling fire

Watching the flames dance

Letting all cares drift away

Falling into meditative stillness

How to soar

With the hawks and the eagles

How to admire the sparkling diamonds

Within the night’s cloak

And dream

How to just be

Wherever I am

In stillness

Calm and serenity

But still working on that

You taught me

To just be the true me

To follow thy heart

Wherever it leads

To walk life

With peace and clarity

You taught me

How to find the light

How to find the love

The joy that shines bright

When all seemed lost

For all shall be well

You taught me

And now I see

The love, the beauty, the joy, the peace and the understanding

That resides in thee

And I am still blossoming

FRIENDS OF FLIGHT

Pale blue morn

Soft rays

Of light

Quiet

Nonchalantly

Traveling

Three

Red-tailed hawks

Soaring and gliding

Graceful

Taking thy being

With them

In their freedom of flight

Then

Three became

Four

Delight

Rang through

Thy being

Watching

The beauty

Thy spirit

Soaring with them

Across the

Pale blue morn

Illuminated

By soft

Warm

Rays of elegance

Three red-tailed hawks

Became four

On this auspicious

Moment in time

Thy being soared

In their freedom of flight

And now

When in need

Of an escape

I shall look to the sky

And remember

My dear friends

Of flight

Soaring and gliding

Within the rays

Across the pale blue morn

Peace

Joy

AN INTRIGUING SPECTACLE

Going home

After a long day

Rays of light

Caught thine eyes

Streaming down

Mysteriously

Clouds

Fluffy and white

Placed just right

Looking again

Sitting at  a stoplight

Gazing upward

A circle light

Rays streaming down

Bending and forming

Mingling with the clouds

That knew where to be

Cascades of color

Peaked through

It stayed

With all the hustle and bustle

And so much more

That life brings

What wonders we see

When we truly learn

To see

On this

Friday

Of good

A dome

In the sky

Appeared

An intriguing

Spectacle of awe

Indeed

“IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD”

Eagle Tree4 3.20.18

Dusk

20th day of March

Magical

Wide-eyed wonderment

Beheld thine eyes

Within the Birchwoods

Serene water

Cold breezes

Standing

Captivated

Humbleness over took

Thy being

The dream of a child

Who once nestled herself

Within the school’s library

Her favorite haunt

Browsing an encyclopedia

Came upon a picture

Of a soaring Bald Eagle

Lifting her away

In ecstasy

She composed

A poem

Called “Wings”

But was laughed at

By classmates

She ignored them

Through the dawns

Of her life’s journey

Dream visions

Of a soaring eagle

Would become her totem

Glorious indeed

But she had

Never seen

With waking eyes

Until an

Unexpected turn

By the pond

Or was it?

Revealed to her

Perched high

In a tree

Her totem

Regal and majestic

Enchanted her with awe

She humbly

Bowed with sacredness

His eyes met hers

Awestruck

Silence

Adrenaline

Flowing through her veins

Wonderment beheld

As she framed

This moment

In time

Upon the soul of her being

The dream

Of a flower child

Became fulfilled

Exultation rose

Within her

As he took flight

And disappeared

Within the rays

Of the setting sun

She

Standing in awe

Bliss

Soared with the eagle

In an unforgettable

Alluring sacredness

That will always be

Apart of her

And thy soul is

Richer now

Because she saw

The Bald Eagle

And watched it take flight

With her very own eyes

She now knows

The meaning of

“In your own backyard”

A magical moment

Indeed

And in the words

Of Nature’s voice and steward

Our good friend, John Denver

I’ll say…

“Far out!”

OMINOUS WINDS

Ominous

Evening

Once again

Whistling wind

Making its presence

Known

Nestled within

A stone abode

Resting upon

A hill

Sipping tea

Still and cozy

Breezes seep

Through elusive

Passageways

Sending shivers

Lavender

Ylang, Ylang

Comforting

Aromatic mist

Circling about

Scribing tenderly

Upon the pages

As the words

Flow from within

Whistling wind

Approaches

Anxiously awaiting

The mighty Atlantic’s

Chaos

Relentlessly

Holding onto her winter’s

Throne

Waiting

Waiting

For colorful fluttery

Friends

To rejoice in song

Warm breezes

Soft vivid hues

Sweet aromas

Subtle movements

Of the ponds and lakes

Shimmering

In the rays

As if gazing

Upon a showcase

Of glittering diamonds

Enchanting

Ocean breezes

As the waves

Come and go

In rhythmic time

Mesmerizing

With its

Many hues

Green, blue

Turquoise

And cobalt blue

Whispering wind

Echoing

Ominous

Breezes

Cold and damp

Scurry by

Sending shivers

Here we go again

Nestled within

Waiting

Waiting

Waiting

To see what

Transpires

And what words

Will fall from the pen

In the days ahead

But for now

Must learn

To be in the moment

Peaceful and calm

For now

Is all there is

And every day

Has a new beginning

So I have been told

MORNING RAYS

Luminescent rays

Rising in the East

Awaken thee

From night’s reign

Clouds drift apart

Revealing

The pale blue sky

Joyous hymns

From the song birds

Pleasantries of morn

The crows

Pass by

Like town criers

Every now and then

Windows

Open

Cool refreshing air

Saunters in

Spring is near

As Native American flute

Music resounds

The trees gently

Begin to awaken

From their winter’s respite

And will soon be

Verdant and lush

Dancing and swaying

In the warm breezes

Full of songs

And I can

Take a break

From winter’s chill

And walk

Side by side

With you

In the

Reminiscent beauty

Of your healing wonder
